01 // COLLABORATIVE ART PIECE

Create one permanent artwork as a team.

Each participant makes an individual component, and the pieces come together to form a finished work for your office.

2D: Collaborative Tile Painting

Each person paints on a tile within a certain theme with beginner-friendly guidance on key techniques.

After the event, we as hosts combine the tiles into one artwork and install it on the wall or on the floor.

If you have a theme idea/request, we will accommodate!

3D: Collaborative Tree Sculpture

Each person creates a leaf of their choice using mixed metals and translucent materials with beginner-friendly guidance on key techniques.

At the end of the event, everyone adds their leaf it to a shared tree in a ceremonial way.

The tree base is a freestanding movable sculpture in a pot (pre-made by an artist).

02 // MATERIAL LAB

Everyone receives the same materials, the same starting point, and an unusual challenge. After a material demonstration, each person develops their own response.

The session ends with a quick presentation and playful group vote based on the ideas — not artistic skill.

Each person receives a card with an unusual job and uses air-dry clay to invent the tool they would need to do it. There is beginner-friendly guidance on key techniques.

Each person receives a crystal and use wire to build the device that will transport it somewhere safely. There is beginner-friendly guidance on key techniques.

WHERE WHITEWATERRAFTING CAME FROM

Whitewaterrafting was founded by Eugenia Moreeva, a Los Angeles–based artist, educator, and CalArts graduate. She began teaching four years ago with deep-reading classes for high school students, then co-founded a literature program with two friends at Meinkurs, an online school in Russia. She also organized experimental art gatherings in Moscow, Russia, bringing together poetry, visual environments, sound, food, and guided sensory experiences. After graduating from CalArts, she moved into visual art education, teaching children and adults through several arts organizations and education companies across Los Angeles.

Her artwork explores how people navigate the structures, systems, and situations they find themselves in. Whitewaterrafting brings that interest together with her teaching practice: showing people how to work with a material while leaving the outcome open. Everyone begins with the same materials, conditions, and somewhere interesting to start, then takes the work in their own direction.

That mix of uncertainty, momentum, and fun is where the name comes from. Making something you’ve never made before means making decisions as you go, without knowing exactly what the finished result will be. Whitewaterrafting provides the structure, materials, and guidance that make the unknown feel exciting rather than intimidating.

Today, Whitewaterrafting brings together professional artists to lead these experiences in corporate offices, senior living communities, retreats, private events, and other places people come together to make something new.

ABOUT THE ARTIST —>

FROM $1,500

Workshops start at $1,500 for groups of 15 or more.
Pricing varies by experience, group size, materials, and location.

  • All Whitewaterrafting workshops are led by professional working artists with a Bachelor of Fine Arts college degree or higher.

  • Pretty much everything. We bring the materials, tools, table protection, workshop setup, examples for demonstrating techniques, artist facilitation, and take care of cleanup afterward.

  • Most workshops accommodate groups of 15 — 80 people, depending on the experience. If you’re planning something larger, get in touch and we can talk through what’s possible.

    Larger groups can be accommodated with additional instructors so everyone has enough space, materials, and individual support.

  • We come to you — your office, off-site, retreat, or event venue throughout Los Angeles. Planning something farther away? We’re available to travel, with travel costs included in the quote.

    We typically just need tables, chairs, and access to the space before and after the workshop. We’ll confirm the exact setup with you ahead of time.

  • Most workshops run 60 — 90 minutes. Setup and cleanup happen separately, so the full workshop time is spent making.

  • Because the goal isn’t to reproduce an example. We teach you how to work with the materials, then give everyone the same clear starting point, constraints, and time to work within. The structure is shared; what you make is your own.

  • Perfectly fine! We demonstrate the materials and techniques and give everyone a clear prompt and starting point. You’ll always know where to begin, with plenty of room to take the work in your own direction.

  • It depends on the workshop. Material Lab pieces belong to the individual participants, while Collaborative Art Pieces become one permanent artwork for your office or shared space.

    The Tree Sculpture comes together on-site as participants add their leaves to the shared tree, so it’s complete by the end of the workshop. Wall or Floor Tile Paintings require final assembly afterward and are ready within two weeks.

  • 2–4 weeks ahead is ideal for most workshops. For Collaborative Art Pieces or custom commissions, 4–6 weeks gives us time to design, fabricate, and prepare everything properly. Planning something sooner? Ask us — we may still be able to make it happen.

  • A 50% deposit secures your date, with the remaining balance due 7 days before your workshop. We’ll send you a secure online invoice for payment.

    Cancellations made more than 14 days in advance are refunded, less a $200 booking fee. Cancellations made within 14 days forfeit the deposit. Cancellations made within 7 days are nonrefundable.

    Workshops may be rescheduled once with 14+ days notice, subject to availability.

  • Yes. We can provide standard vendor documentation, including a W-9 and proof of general liability insurance. Your company or venue can be named as an additional insured when required, and we’re happy to review and sign reasonable NDAs.
